2011 Point Scoring System

Current Point Standings

The off road Challenge is there for all riders to enjoy, and not only the top riders.

Thus the points system has been designed to reward all riders who show up to compete at events, and not only the top finishers.
This type of scoring system keep competition alive in small and big classes, and in general don’t severely penalize riders who do badly in a race because of a fall, breakdown or any other reason, and make it very difficult for any rider to “run away” with the points..
When a rider have a problem but get back into the race instead of pulling out he/she will be rewarded for additional laps completed.  Even if you have a bad day and finish 20th you can still score between 16 (if you completed as many laps as the top finishers) and  8 points (if you broke down or got hurt on the sight lap and could not start the actual race) depending on the number of laps completed.

Points are given for the place in which a rider finishes as well as the distance completed.  This is totalled to give the rider his points for an event.

The maximum points which can be scored at an event are 30 (1st place) and the minimum 3 (54th place and down, and only doing the sight lap).
If you enter and show up at the event you will be classified and score points.  No more driving 300km to go race, break down on the sight lap and your day is completely wasted

This pattern continues down to 1 point, where after all remaining competitors score 1 point.

 Race Distance points.

Maximum Laps get 10 points.  For each lap done less than the maximum 2 points are deducted.  For starting but not completing lap 1 you get the pints for completion of lap one less 2 points.  For arriving at the event but not starting you get the same as a starter who did not complete any laps less 2 points.

E.g.  Rider no R99 drove all the way from Hertzogville for the Hopetown event and his quad broke down on the sight lap.  There were only 6 entries in his class and he ended up scoring 13 points for the day.
